Families Together Therapeutic Preschool works with young children who have experienced trauma and stress in their lives. Their families have one or more of the following issues: homelessness, child abuse or neglect or risk of child abuse or neglect, domestic violence, parents challenged by mental health, physical health, or chemical health. And these issues have had strong effects on the children that we serve.
The main focus of the program is the work with children to develop relationships and build social/emotional and life skill competence. But in order to be successful with children the program also works to support the families. Many of our families are very transient and may move from homeless or domestic violence shelters to more stable housing. That is the time when having volunteers available to help move a donated couch, table, or bed would be a huge benefit to the program.
Volunteer responsibilities will consist of:
- Moving donated furniture to families in need in our therapeutic preschool and other programs as needed.
Requirements:
- Must provide your own vehicle for moving items.
- Ability to lift heavy objects such as beds, dressers, couches, etc.
- Time commitment is on an as-needed basis and will be called when the need arises.
