GMAS has four qualified psychologist who are available to provide psychosocial assessments and conduct presentations and trainings statewide.

Nanette McDevit,PsyD, Med., taught grades K-3 at MN State Academy for the Deaf for five years, as well as directed a mentoring program for teachers for an additional two years. Dr. McDevitt also has experience leading social skills groups for students of all ages, leading parent support groups and providing a wide variety of mental health services including psychological assessments, individual/family and group therapy.  Currently, Dr. McDevitt works as a psychologist at Minnesota State Academy for the Deaf, as well as a Program Development Consultant for Greater Minnesota Assessment Service.

Robin Santa-Teresa, PsyD, is licensed as a clinical psychologist and a school psychologist in Colorado. Dr. Santa-Teresa earned a Masters of Science in developmental psychology with a focus on sign language development from the University of New Mexico. She graduated from the psychology program at Gallaudet University in 1987. Dr. Santa-Teresa worked a s a school psychologist with deaf and hard of hearing children for 15 years prior to returning to school to complete her doctorate of professional psychology (PsyD) at Spalding University in Louisville, Kentucky, where she studied Clinical Psychology with a concentration in Health Psychology.

Candice Tate, PhD, is an independent licensed psychologist in Colorado and a national consultant of deaf and hard of hearing systems of mental health care. She is also the co-founder of the National Coalition on Mental Health and Deafness. Her research interests include deaf and hard of hearing populations worldwide. She earned her Bachelor of Science in general psychology from Western Michigan University and her Doctorate in clinical psychology from Gallaudet University.

Harvey Mar, Ph.D., Psychology Director at New Alternatives for Children, social service agency serving children with developmental disabilities and chronic illnesses in foster care or who require social services.  Also Assistant Professor of Clinical Psychology in Pediatrics, Columbia University Medical Center. Specializing in children with multiple disabilities, including deafblindness.  Previous writings/research on communication, social skills of children with multiple, severe disabilities, behavior interventions, and assessment issues.  Dr. Mar contracts with GMAS to provide evaluations and assessments for deafblind and multiple disability requests.
