Lifetrack Resources Wins 2004 Nonprofit Excellence Award!

October, 2004 - Lifetrack Resources is proud to announce that we are the recipient of the 2004 Nonprofit Excellence Award. The Nonprofit Excellence Award recognizes a single Minnesota nonprofit organization each year out of the over 4,600 nonprofits statewide that best demonstrates the Principles and Practices for Nonprofit Excellence.

The Nonprofit Excellence Award is sponsored by Marquette Financial Companies and coordinated by MAP for Nonprofits. The award with a $5,000 check from Marquette was presented during the Minnesota Council of Nonprofits Annual Conference on October 14, 2004.

MAP for Nonprofits partners with the Twin Cities' business community to provide management and board recruitment services to nonprofit organizations in the Twin Cities. The Principles and Practices for Nonprofit Excellence are based on the fundamental values of quality, responsibility, and accountability. The nine Principles and 87 Practices provide specific guidelines in the areas of mission and values, governance, financial management, human resources, fundraising, public accountability, advocacy, information and technology, and partnerships. They can be found on the Minnesota Council of Nonprofits web site at www.mncn.org, in the Info Central section.

John Mohr, Lifetrack Resources CEO, said, "We are deeply honored to have been chosen for this award because we know that there are many excellent nonprofit organizations in Minnesota. Our staff and volunteers have worked hard in our quest for excellence so that we can demonstrate that resources invested in Lifetrack Resources yield an outstanding return on investment for the community."

The Blue Ribbon panel selected Lifetrack Resources as this year's winner, and commented on Lifetrack Resources' annual evaluation of programs, including service outcomes, customer satisfaction and calculations of return on investment in each program area. Lifetrack Resources also engages in an annual strategic planning process, has a good mix of funding streams, demonstrates strong board and staff leadership, exemplifies diversity among good staff and board, enjoys staff longevity, and is using technology effectively, according to the panel.

Ed Padilla, of Marquette Financial Companies, who presented the award, noted that Marquette has a vested interest in recognizing well-run nonprofits. "For many years, Marquette has dedicated two percent of pre-tax earnings to community organizations and projects … In our grantmaking and volunteerism - just like our businesses -- we strive to invest in excellence. That's why we applaud Minnesota's nonprofit sector for developing the Principles and Practices for Nonprofit Excellence."
