American Express Foundation Grant
to Lifetrack Resources

July, 2004 - Lifetrack Resources' refugee and immigrant employment program recently received a grant of $30,000 from the American Express Foundation to provide financial literacy training to immigrant and refugee jobseekers and newly employed, to begin in the fall. This is the fruit of a partnership between Lifetrack and Vietnamese Social Service of Minnesota. The grant will provide for financial education through classroom and 1:1 instruction to 100 participants and also will track lifestyle changes over time as immigrants achieve personal financial management skills. The program is a pilot that may become an ongoing effort through American Express Foundation's Economic Independence Fund. The classes will be available to all immigrants of refugees from any of Lifetrack's employment programs.

The competition for this funding was stiff: the American Express Foundation received 810 applications nationally, and funding in the maximum amount of $30,000 was provided to only ten. We are honored to have been chosen.
