Eight Area Employers Honored for Embracing Diversity and Proactive Leadership in the Workplace

October 2003 - In an environment and economy where many applicants are vying for the same position, eight employers demonstrated their ability to improve our community by employing people with disabilities or barriers to employment. On October 30th at 3:00, Lifetrack Resources recognized these businesses at the Annual Lifetrack Resources Employer Celebration at the Lifetrack Resources Main Building at 709 University Ave. West, St. Paul. Phyllis Stromberg, from American Bank, and Roger Hale, Governor's Workforce Development Council, were the keynote speakers.

  • Exceptional Example in Providing Reasonable Accommodations was awarded to Trujillo's Tax Service for demonstrating flexibility, innovation and understanding in providing reasonable accommodations to employees with disabilities.

  • Embracing Cultural Diversity in the Workplace was awarded to Airport Grand Hotel for continually hiring employees from other cultures and adapting as an organization to reflect their changing workforce.

  • Proactive Community Leadership was awarded to Petco for taking proactive strides to improve the lives of people in our community through recruiting, training, retention and advancement. Lifetrack Resources collaborator, Minnesota Employment Center, also awarded St. Vincent de Paul Store with the Minnesota Employment Center Proactive Community Leadership award.

  • Leadership in Civic Involvement in the Community was award to Associated Banks for significant civic involvement to promote hiring people with disadvantages or disabilities in the workplace.

In addition, Lifetrack Resources honored Trend Enterprises for continuously providing Packaging First with subcontract packaging and assembly work, which enables us to employ and train many people with barriers to employment. Colder Products will received an award for Special Recognition for Providing Employment Incentives and Ramsey County received an award for Special Recognition for Innovation.
