Service Position Summary:
To provide connections to public benefits, and job related assistance using a customized model of one-on-one support to foster economic stability, independence, and improved economic self-sufficiency outcomes of Twin Cities’ residents with employment barriers and economic disadvantages.
Essential Functions:
- Administers the software tool “Bridges to Benefits” to assist program participants in screening eligibility for various public benefits.
- Administers the software tool “Disability Benefits 101” to assist program participants in navigating their benefits while returning to work.
- Offers customized assistance and follow-up in applying for public benefits that they may qualify for.
- Assists program participants in connecting to employment and community resources to support participants with their job search.
- Assists program participants in creating action plans and financial stability goals to support their pathway to self-sufficiency.
- Assists agency staff with job seeking duties that could include resume development, applying for jobs, interview preparation, and assisting with transportation to job interviews.
- Assists program participants in coordinating services such as child care and rental assistance when necessary.
- Attends AmeriCorps member meetings and participates in service projects.
- Participates in training activities to improve service practices and outcomes of individual participants supported by project partner agencies
- Completes service year hours and requirements.
Marginal Functions:
- Assists with filing, data management, and miscellaneous paperwork.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma required, BA/BS preferred.
- Able to commit to a year of national service.
- Respectful of racial, ethnic, cultural, gender, religious, and individual differences.
Requirements:
- Able to use computer and sit at desk occasionally.
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Be a citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident alien of the United States.
Service Environment:
- Service will be performed in office and various community settings.
- Acceptance is required in working with people of different abilities and varying economic backgrounds.
