GREATER MINNESOTA ASSESSMENT SERVICE
FOR DEAF, DEAFBLIND AND HARD OF HEARING CHILDREN AGES 0-21
Lifetrack Resources' Greater Minnesota Assessment Service provides communication
appropriate specialized psychological and social assessments, follow-up,
school and family consultation and training to benefit children who are
deaf, deafblind, and hard of hearing, ages 0-21 residing in Greater Minnesota,
outside the seven-county metro area.
Program Highlights:
- Professionals with Lifetrack Resources are fluent in American Sign
Language and familiar with communication and medical choices that includes
Cochlear Implants, Cued Speech, Oral, tactile and gesture. Licensed
Psychologists are experienced in understanding both the physical and
mental health needs of deaf, hard of hearing and deafblind people. They
are familiar with deaf culture in addition to issues facing deafblind
and hard of hearing children and youth.
- The selected psychologist is matched with the needs identified by
families and schools.
- A typical assessment includes: a formal application process, clinical
interviews, comprehensive testing, observations, immediate feedback
the day of testing, a written report and follow-up provided by the assessment
service team.
- Consulting psychologists will travel statewide conducting assessments
and consultations. This travel approach allows for additional testing
time and observation as well as connecting with family members and community
professionals involved with the child's development.
- Presentations, workshops, and training for families, agencies and
professionals are offered statewide.
The Greater Minnesota Assessment Service addresses issues related
to:
- Mental health and psychiatric status
- Behavior and adaptive behavioral issues
- Social/emotional status
- Childhood trauma
- Learning Disabilities
- Cognitive skills
- Daily living skills and transition
The Greater Minnesota Assessment Service is funded through a grant awarded
to Lifetrack Resources by the Minnesota Department of Human Services,
Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services Division.
