Family AssessmentThis program provides a response to a concern about child maltreatment other than the traditional child protection response. Lifetrack has two staff available to work with families; seven other community based agencies are contracted with to provide this service in Ramsey County. These families do not have serious child abuse issues such as sexual abuse or severe physical abuse and they are interested in working with an agency so that they dont have a child protection case opened. The Family Assessment worker has some funds available to assist the family with needs that cant be met by other sources help with paying a phone bill, purchasing shoes for a child, etc. Family Assessment workers refer these families to other agencies, support programs, mental health counseling and other resources, working with the family for up to 3 months. If the family is not cooperative, if the abuse re-occurs or if the issues are more serious than previously believed, the family can be referred back to child protection for service.
Eligibility requirements: Families are referred to Ramsey County Child Protection for assessment. Ramsey County determines the severity of the abuse and the appropriate follow up. If Family Assessment is desired, the family is given a choice of the 8 participating agencies. If Lifetrack is chosen, we receive a referral call and begin service.
Contact person for intake: A Ramsey County Child Protection worker calls Rita Chamberlain (651) 265-2416 of Lifetrack if they have a referral.
