Family
Group Decision Making Coordinator / Facilitator (2 Positions Available
- 1 Full Time, 1 Part Time)
Summary: Engage
and prepare all participants, including the wider family circle,
the informal support network and professionals / service providers,
for a Family Group Decision Making meeting. The coordinator also
facilitates the meeting.
Position Duties:
Relationship-based
practice
- Connect with family members through meaningful engagement in
issues affecting the safety and well being of their children.
- Conduct home visits to parents, the children, relatives, kin,
and other identified persons.
Purpose of pre-meetings
- Help identify safety issues that may impact the process.
- Negotiate meeting goal; safety planning.
- Provide information about the FGDM process, child protection
process and the juvenile court process.
Partnership-based
collaboration
- Provide coordination between child protection workers, service
providers, and family members to encourage cooperation and mutual
exchange of information.
- Screen new cases with the referring worker.
Shepherd the process
- Facilitate meetings that achieve their desired outcomes with
neutrality.
- Ensure accessibility by making arrangements for childcare, transportation,
support people and interpreters in an effort to remove barriers
to attendance at the family meeting.
- The coordinator is a neutral third-party facilitating the process
for family and service providers.
- The coordinator is responsible for distributing the plan after
the meeting.
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree or equivalent.
Requirements:
3-5 years experience working with families / children. Attendance
at a program sponsored Family Group Decision Making training (can
be obtained after hire). Knolwedge of empowerment theory, family
systems theory and the public child welfare system.

Worker - Substitute (Temporary Full Time)
Summary: Function
as a member of an interdisciplinary team in planning for and implementing
a comprehensive early intervention preschool program for highly
stressed children and families. Address family psycho-social needs,
provide service coordination, support and advocacy services.
Position Duties:
- Conduct
intake interviews, in partnership with classroom teacher, with
caregivers of referred children.
- Conduct initial assessment of family dynamics and social service
needs for families of children on social worker's caseload.
- Consult with appropriate Families Together intervention team
to determine family support plan.
- Participate in classroom team staffing meetings.
- Conduct home visits to provide support, advocacy, and service
coordination to assigned families.
- Maintain and expand awareness of community social service resources,
and make appropriate referrals.
- Share resources with other home visiting staff.
- Evaluate need of support groups for children's parents and other
caregivers and organize and conduct groups as needed.
- Provide ongoing consultation and support to other team members
regarding family issues and intervention strategies for home visiting.
- Assist in coordinating family involvement activities such as
social parties, field trips, monthly newsletter and other resources
and donations.
- Maintain records and reports as required by the agency, adhering
to agency policies and administrative directives.
- Review cases with supervisor or social work consultant on at
least a monthly basis.
- Participate in program, division, agency and community meetings
as appropriate.
- Perform other duties as assigned by program supervisor.
Qualifications: Minimum of Bachelors Degree in Social Work
or related Human Service field. State of Minnesota Social Work
License preferred.
Requirements:
Minimum of three years experience working with highly stressed,
low-income families. Demonstrated ability to understand and work
well with families of young children from economically and socially
diverse backgrounds and with other professionals. Commitment to
team concept. Current Red Cross First Aid and CPR training (may
be taken after hired. Annual Mantoux test or chest x-ray. Maintain
a valid driver's license and use of personal vehicle for agency
business

Speech
/ Language Pathologist (On-Call)
Summary: Seeking
qualified speech pathologists interested in on call / weekend
coverage of adult clients in an acute hospital setting. Hospitals
are located in St. Paul and eastern suburbs. This position may
have the potential for regular hours.
Position Duties:
Provide evaluation and treatment to adult clients for a variety
of diagnoses, including aphasia, dysarthria, cognition, and swallowing.
Evaluations will include clinical speech/language and cognitive
evaluation, bedside swallow assessment, and video fluoroscopic
swallow studies. Must be independent with dysphagia evaluations
and treatment. A qualified therapist will be effective, not only
in providing speech therapy services, but in time management,
completion of the necessary documentation, and communication with
other professionals.
Qualifications:
Must hold a certificate of clinical competence in speech pathology
and be eligible for MN licensure in speech pathology.
Requirements:
Experience with adult clients preferred.
Hours Per Week:
On call / occasional weekend days with the potential for possible
growth into regular hours.
